Comstock Wins Virginia House Seat

Barbara Comstock of Virginia has won her race for the U.S. House, beating Democrat John Foust.

Comstock wins the seat currently held by her former boss, longtime Republican congressman Frank Wolf. A state delegate in the Virginia legislature, Comstock was criticized by her opponent and his allies for never having a “real job.”

Besides working for Wolf and as a lawyer, one of Comstock’s jobs in the 1990s was an opposition researcher investigating scandals around Bill and Hillary Clinton. One of the pieces of political dirt Comstock discovered was the so-called Lincoln Bedroom Memo to a Democratic party fundraiser named Terry McAuliffe—who is now governor of Virginia.
