CNN said late Tuesday that it was reassessing the role that comedian Kathy Griffin plays in the cable channel’s New Year’s Eve coverage, after Griffin apologized for releasing what she admitted was a “disturbing” picture of her holding up the bloody head of Donald Trump.

“We found what she did disgusting and offensive,” CNN said in a statement.
