Technophobes seek help: Verizon’s time and weather phone hotlines will cease June 1.
The District was one of the few places in the nation that stilled offered the service, which began in the 1930s — long before the Internet boom. The service has been nullified by the widespread use of faster alternatives.
However, for those unable to adapt to the rough waters of the world wide web, phone hotlines are still supplied by the U.S. Naval Observatory Dial in Service, National Weather Service, The Official U.S. Time, and BING411.
