The Washington Post’s op-ed webpage pulled out all the stops Tuesday in a bid to make sure readers know they should oppose Donald Trump.
Six of the seven newest columns deal with Trump, including Tuesday’s featured column: “There is something very wrong with Donald Trump.”
That was followed by: “Dear Republican leaders: It’s not too late to dump Trump.”
After that, it was, “Is Donald Trump just plain crazy?”
And then: “The Democratic convention’s surprising message: Trump is not a real Republican.”
And then: “By dishonoring the ultimate sacrifice, Trump has sunk to a new low.”
And then: “The facts behind Donald Trump’s many falsehoods.”
Most of those columns make up the Post’s “most read” list, although another column from Ghazala Khan, the wife of Khizr Khan who is feuding with Trump, makes that list. Her column is titled “Trump criticized my silence. He knows nothing about true sacrifice.”
The page does spend some time with columns on the Voting Rights Act, financial reform and the state of U.S. leadership. But then it’s back to more Trump columns, like, “Will the GOP repudiate Trump’s cruelty to a fallen soldier’s family?”
Late Monday night, the Post’s op-ed board wrote, “Is the GOP turning on Mr. Trump?”
Two other pieces on the page are, “Joe McCarthy was brought down by attacks on his decency. Trump will lose the same way,” and “What living through a coup taught me about defeating Trump.”
