NY Gov. Cuomo raises profile _ but for what?

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — With a new book, an appearance on David Letterman and high-profile trips overseas, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo is raising his national profile and laying the ground work for what might be an ambitious next political move.

But political observers say he’s yet to engage in the kind of political maneuvering of someone planning to run for president.

The increased national exposure comes after a tough six months for the Democrat, who faced a bruising primary and accusations that his administration meddled with a corruption panel.

Now, a seemingly re-energized Cuomo says he is focused on defeating Republican Rob Astorino and winning a second term next month.
