President Trump on Monday criticized Oakland Raiders player Marshawn Lynch for sitting during the U.S. national anthem, but standing during the Mexican anthem during a game in Mexico City Sunday.
“Marshawn Lynch of the NFL’s Oakland Raiders stands for the Mexican Anthem and sits down to boos for our National Anthem. Great disrespect! Next time NFL should suspend him for remainder of season. Attendance and ratings way down,” Trump tweeted Monday morning.

The NFL running back sat on a bench during most of the U.S. anthem. He has not stood during the anthem’s playing at games since he came out of retirement earlier this season.
Several other NFL players have continued to protest police treatment of blacks, and President Trump, by refusing to stand during the song.
