Former Vice President Joe Biden guaranteed donors that his administration would be completely free of corruption.
“I promise you, I will never break a promise to you. I promise you that I will keep my word,” he said Thursday evening at a “virtual fundraiser” from his “No Malarkey” tour bus in Waterloo, Iowa. “I promise you that we will — we’ll have administration like Barack and I had, where there’s not one single, solitary hint of corruption, not one single, solitary scandal.”
Throughout his third White House run, Biden has claimed that President Barack Obama’s administration was free from scandal as a way to contrast himself with President Trump.
That claim, however, has been complicated in recent months because of public scrutiny of his son Hunter Biden’s role on the board of the Ukrainian-based gas company Burisma following allegations from a government whistleblower that Trump threatened to hold up military aid to the Ukrainian government unless they opened an investigation into the Bidens.
On Wednesday, Biden called a liberal voter a “damn liar” for accusing Biden of helping facilitate his son getting a job at the company.

“But you, on the other hand, let your son over there, get a job and work for a gas company. He had no experience,” the man said.
Following poor polling in Iowa, Biden’s team decided to redirect resources to the state. On Dec. 1, Biden began an eight-day tour throughout the state that will include visits to towns and cities in 18 counties.
