British Prime Minister Boris Johnson expressed his deep affection for the famous children’s program Peppa Pig in a speech to the Confederation of British Industry on Tuesday, calling the lovable swine “pure genius.”
Johnson boasted the titular Peppa Pig and her family of characters as a unique symbol of “the power of U.K. creativity.” The Conservative Party leader went on to praise the show and its wider merchandise and licensing as a major moneymaker for the United Kingdom, offering it as a prime example for the 2021 CBI conference.
“Who would’ve believed … that a pig that looks like a hair dryer, or possibly a sort of Picasso-like hair dryer, a pig that was rejected by the BBC, would now be exported to 180 countries with theme parks both in America and in China, as well as in the New Forest?” Johnson acclaimed. “A business that’s worth at least 6 billion pounds to this country — 6 billion pounds and counting!”
PEPPA PIG AND THE PERILOUS PREDICAMENT OF THE CHINESE POLITY
Johnson reported that he attended the newest theme park dedicated to Peppa Pig on Monday, giving rave reviews.
“Yesterday, I went, as we all must, to Peppa Pig World,” Johnson said, referencing the theme park in the U.K.

“I was a bit hazy what I would find at Peppa Pig World, but I loved it,” Johnson reported to the audience. “Peppa Pig World is very much my kind of place. It has very safe streets, discipline in schools, heavy emphasis on new mass transit systems, I noticed — even if they’re a bit stereotypical about Daddy Pig.”
Daddy Pig, the father of Peppa Pig, is a rotund and bespectacled hog often portrayed as foolish and clumsy, though well-meaning.
Johnson spoke at length about Peppa Pig in his address, saying that no government body or civil servant would be able to imagine anything like the famous pig character.
“I think that is pure genius, don’t you? Peppa Pig?” Johnson gleamed. “No government in the world, no Whitehall civil servant, would conceivably have come up with Peppa.”

Peppa Pig is an internationally acclaimed children’s show that has seen wide success, most notably in America and China.
The show follows the adventures and daily life of Peppa, along with her brother George and her parents. The program attempts to teach children simple life and moral lessons, and it sometimes features Peppa traveling to new destinations to learn about other countries and areas of the U.K.
Peppa Pig is one of the most in-demand children’s programs today — ranked below only the iconic Nickelodeon program SpongeBob SquarePants.
