Well, knock us over with a hair extension: Paris Hilton’s latest relationship is kaput.
Days after the heirhead was spotted, ahem, reconnecting with ex-beau Stavros Niarchos, an insider confirms to People magazine that she has split with Good Charlotte rocker Benji Madden.
“She is saddened by the breakup, but they’re just too different and they wanted different things in life,” a source close to Hilton explains.
A source tells Us Weekly magazine, however, that “Benji was overprotective and controlling. He doesn’t get along with any of her friends. Friends thought Paris had changed since being with Benji.”
But don’t blame Stavros for wrecking Paris’ relationship, the People source declares: “In no way are they romantic, nor do they want to get back together.”
Right. And if you believe that, we’ve got a chain of hotels to sell you.
No Ritchie Rich
Well, that was fast! Madonna and estranged husband Guy Ritchie will reportedly deprive us of the pleasure of a messy public divorce; the couple are said to have reached a settlement, and they will be granted a preliminary divorce decree (to be finalized in six weeks) at a hearing today.
The U.K.’s Times claims that Guy opted not to fight for his legal right to half of Her Madgesty’s approximately $500 million nest egg.
But Madonna, in turn, has evidently relented in her mission to retain full custody of the kids. Sons Rocco, 8, and David, 3, will reportedly split their time between both parents (Guy in London, Madonna in New York), while Lourdes, 12, whose dad is Carlos Leon, will live full time with her Material Mom.
The “RocknRolla” director, a pal tells the Times, “could have hugely boosted his bank balance and set himself up for life, but he already feels he has enough money.”
Fine. But we still would have preferred a messy trial dragging on in the public gaze.
Scary Admirer
Jennifer Garner has a stalker. Court papers obtained by TMZ reveal that the actress, who’s expecting her second child with hubby Ben Affleck, has been granted a restraining order against one Steven Burky.
“Mr. Burky has been stalking and harassing me,” Jennifer states in her declaration, adding that he has been sending “packages and letters containing delusional and paranoid thoughts, and following me around the country.”
Burky has allegedly been making himself a nuisance since 2002, but, Jen complains, “his obsessive and harassing behavior has escalated to the point of becoming dangerous and threatening.”
“He does have a mental disorder,” Burky’s aunt admits to the New York Daily News. “He’s supposed to be taking medication.”
Some comfort for Jennifer and her loved ones: The alleged stalker is now said to be in psychiatric custody on a 5150 hold. Hey, sometimes the system works.
