First lady Melania Trump is giving back during the coronavirus pandemic.
The first lady sent care packages featuring the logo of her signature “Be Best” initiative on Thursday to hospitals in 10 states that are dealing with the coronavirus pandemic.
The care packages are geared toward children and contained a number of goods, including blankets, caps, pencils, backpacks, stickers, and Dr. Seuss books, according to the Associated Press.
The White House did not reveal specific hospitals but said they are located in Delaware, Florida, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Nevada, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, Tennessee, and the District of Columbia. The first lady has visited a number of hospitals in the same states that the care packages are being delivered to. Trump has used her position to advocate for children and related causes.
“The medical community has gone above and beyond to protect the health of the American People,” Trump said in a statement, noting that the gifts are “just a small token of my appreciation for their courage and leadership in this time of need.”
“Our thoughts & prayers continue to be w/ each person suffering & fighting to recover from this terrible virus, & with all of the families who have lost loved ones. Even though we are physically apart, we are all in this fight together,” the first lady said in a Friday tweet.
