Dr. Oz provides medical aid to flight passenger: Report

Dr. Mehmet Oz, the Pennsylvania GOP candidate running for Senate, aided a collapsed passenger on his Saturday flight from Louisville, Kentucky, to Philadelphia.

The celebrity doctor reportedly jumped into action when he heard a cry for help near the front of the American Airlines plane, where a man had collapsed while trying to get into the bathroom. He was on the nonstop flight that lasted less than two hours.

“When I got to him, he was conscious but disoriented,” Oz told Newsmax. “I asked the stewardesses to come help and get me something with sugar in it.”

After the flight attendants brought the man a caffeinated soda, the man seemed to recover. His “thready pulse” had informed the doctor that the man’s blood sugar was low. As he continued to drink and sit for another 10 minutes, the man began to recover and received additional medical aid, Oz said.

“These flight attendants were very well trained, kept their calm, and were able to help me perfectly. I want to applaud their professionalism,” he said.

It is common for people on planes to become dehydrated because of the dry air at high altitudes, according to the celebrity doctor. He recommends boarding flights after having consumed a lot of fluid.

Last year, Oz similarly provided medical aid to a middle-aged man at Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey. The doctor is now running against Democratic candidate John Fetterman for Pennsylvania’s open Senate seat.
