Drunken driver plows into Mardi Gras parade, injuring 28

A pickup truck driven by a man suspected of being highly intoxicated plowed into a crowd attending the most popular Mardi Gras parade in New Orleans on Saturday, injuring 28 people, at least five critically.

The driver was quickly apprehended and appeared to be in a stupor, according to reports. New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu referred to him as a “drunk driver.”

Pandemonium broke out, and emergency vehicles transported 21 people to the hospital. Nevertheless, the Krewe of Endymion parade, the main Mardi Gras parade in the city, continued on.
