President Trump said that the U.S. will “play a much tougher hand” when it comes to illegal immigration and border security policy if Democrats don’t work with Republicans to pass more strict laws.
“The United States has been spending Billions of Dollars a year on Illegal Immigration. This will not continue,” Trump posted to Twitter Friday.

The United States has been spending Billions of Dollars a year on Illegal Immigration. This will not continue. Democrats must give us the votes to pass strong (but fair) laws. If not, we will be forced to play a much tougher hand.

Trump has threatened to impose more strict immigration laws and has become more vocal on the issue as thousands of migrants currently make their way from Central America to the U.S. by way of Mexico.
The U.S. and Mexico came to an agreement for the Mexican government to help stop the caravan before it reached the southern border, but that has not hindered the migrant caravan,
The migrants charged the Guatemalan-Mexican border last week when they were met by border fences and continued their trek n orth.
The Trump administration requested for troop to be sent to the southern border to assist in border security efforts ahead of the caravan’s arrival. The request for 800 troops was approved Thursday by Defense Secretary Jim Mattis.
