Incoming House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s youngest daughter said Monday that “no one ever won betting against” her mother.
“She’ll cut your head off and you won’t even know you’re bleeding,” Alexandra Pelosi, a documentary producer, told CNN when asked how she feels her mother will handle President Trump as speaker of the House. “That’s all you need to know about her.”
Pelosi said that her mother worked for and against several presidents and always persevered, suggesting that her dealing with Trump would be no different.
“She knows what she’s doing, and that should make you sleep at night: knowing that at least somebody in this town knows what they’re doing,” Pelosi said.
The California Democrat is set to reclaim the speakership on Thursday, after eight years in the minority. Heavy lifting will begin immediately after Democrats take power, amid a partial government shutdown nearing its second week. Pelosi and other congressional leaders are set to meet with Trump Wednesday afternoon in an effort to end the standoff over funding for border security.
