Democrat Ted Lieu: If Kavanaugh is this ‘angry’ when sober, imagine what he’s like when drunk

Rep. Ted Lieu, D-Calif., used Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh’s emotional defense of himself against allegations of sexual misconduct to question how the judge acts when drinking.

“If Brett Kavanaugh can be this angry on national TV, imagine what he’s like when he gets inebriated,” the lawmaker tweeted during Kavanaugh’s opening remarks to the Senate Judiciary Committee on Thursday.

Lieu also retweeted other Twitter users who were stunned by Kavanaugh’s emphatic remarks.

Christine Blasey Ford, who testified earlier in the day about her allegation that Kavanaugh sexually assaulted her in high school, said Kavanaugh was drunk when the incident occurred.

In a separate allegation, Kavanaugh’s former Yale University classmate Deborah Ramirez claims the judge exposed himself to her while they were both drunk.

President Trump’s nominee has vehemently denied the allegations.

During Thursday’s hearing, Kavanaugh said he drank beer with his friends in high school and he still enjoys the activity.

“I drank beer with my friends. Almost everyone did. Sometimes I had too many beers. Sometimes, others did,” Kavanaugh said. “I liked beer. I still like beer. But I did not drink beer to the point of blacking out, and I never sexually assaulted anyone.”
