Democratic Sen. Doug Jones taunted his former rival Roy Moore on Thursday amid Republican opposition to Moore launching another bid for the Senate.
Jones said it was “amusing” watching Republicans who supported Moore during the 2017 special election turn on him.
“It has been so amusing watching all the handwringing by establishment Republicans who were all in for Roy Moore with his cowboy suit & little gun in 2017. Sorry Roy, guess they’re just not that into you anymore,” the Alabama senator tweeted Thursday.

Moore lost to Jones as the two vied to replace then-Attorney General Jeff Sessions in the Senate. He recently teased another run for the seat in 2020, but has faced opposition from Republicans.
President Trump, who endorsed the Republican in 2017, urged Moore to sit out in 2020, warning that the “consequences will be devastating” if he ran again.
Moore dismissed the president’s comments, asserting that “everybody knows I can win.”
