Kayleigh McEnany: Trump will be ‘cleared’ to resume public activity Saturday

White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany said President Trump, who is recovering from COVID-19, “will be cleared to go” and resume public activity by the weekend.

In an interview Friday morning with Fox and Friends, McEnany said Dr. Sean Conley, the physician to the president, will “lay out exactly how that looks medically speaking” and reiterated his expectation that Trump will be cleared on Saturday.

“I’ll leave it to Dr. Conley because he has all the granular details of the testing and as to what medical bar needs to be met to show that you’re not transmissible, but yes,” McEnany said. “There will be a test in place, and rest assured, that test will show that it’s not transmissible. He won’t be out there if he could transmit the virus.”

Trump, who tested positive for COVID-19 last week, has not yet returned to the campaign trail but has appeared on the airwaves. He called into Fox Business and Fox News on Thursday. He also has two radio appearances lined up and is set to appear live on Tucker Carlson Tonight on Friday.

McEnany also rejected claims from House Speaker Nancy Pelosi that a commission needs to be established to evaluate Trump’s capacity to fulfill the functions of his office and holding a press conference Friday about the 25th Amendment.

“That’s an absurd proposition from Nancy Pelosi. The only one who needs to be looking at the 25th Amendment is Nancy Pelosi herself,” McEnany said. “Maybe she’s projecting here because the 25th Amendment — no reason for it to be considered with regard to the president of the United States. But maybe for Nancy Pelosi herself.”
