Work zone alert: Metro planning two weekend shutdowns

Metro is planning to shut down sections on the Orange and Red lines over the three-day holiday weekend in its latest push to catch up on a backlog of track work.

The Green, Yellow and Blue lines will not be affected.

The shutdowns will occur between Rossyln and Virginia Square, meaning that Clarendon and Courthouse stations will be closed on the Orange Line.

Service on the Red Line will be closed between Medical Center and White Flint, with the closure of the Grosvenor-Strathmore station.

Free shuttle buses will ferry riders between the affected stations.

The shutdowns begin at 10 p.m. Friday, as usual, but extend through Monday because of the Presidents Day holiday.
