Samuel L. Jackson lends voice to ‘Stop Donald Trump’ in Georgia special election

Actor Samuel L. Jackson is lending his voice to the fight against President Trump in the special election to take the Georgia congressional seat vacated by Republican Tom Price when he became Health and Human Services secretary.

“Stop Donald Trump, the man who encourages racial and religious discrimination and sexism,” Jackson says in a radio ad from the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.

“Remember what happened the last time people stayed home,” Jackson says. “We got stuck with Trump. We have to channel the great vengeance and furious anger we have for this administration into votes at the ballot box.”

Jackson doesn’t promote a specific Democratic candidate.

At the forefront of the Democratic Party’s campaign to take the conservative-leaning Atlanta suburb district is Jon Ossoff, a former aide to Rep. Hank Johnson. Not only does he have the support of local Democratic leaders, but also has actress Alyssa Milano campaigning for him. Donors have reportedly put contributed $8 million for the candidate.

The day of the special election is scheduled for April 18. If no candidate is able to reach a 50 percent threshold, then the top two candidates will participate in a runoff on June 20.

According to a Washington Examiner analysis, Ossof likely will make the second round of voting, but will probably lose in that contest.
