Trump says he still has confidence in John Bolton after scrapping Iran strike

President Trump indicated on Saturday that he still has faith in his national security adviser after calling off a strike on Iran minutes before it was set to happen.

On the South Lawn of the White House, on his way to Camp David, Trump told reporters “I do” have confidence in John Bolton, who along with Secretary of State Mike Pompeo favored the attack after issuing aggressive recent statements on Iran.

Trump canceled the bombing of Iran after authorizing it late Thursday, saying via Twitter he learned 150 Iranians might die, and that it would not be proportional to the loss of one U.S. drone.

He told reporters that he is “getting praise” for his decision on Iran not to commit to the attack,

“Everyone was saying I’m a warmonger. Now they’re saying I’m a dove,” he said.
