Trump uses TPP to smack Kaine

Donald Trump Saturday went after Gov. Tim Kaine, Hillary Clinton’s chosen running mate, for what Trump says is Kaine’s backing for the Trans Pacific Partnership.

“Tim Kaine has been praising the Trans Pacific Partnership and has been pushing hard to get it approved” Trump tweeted. “Job killer!”

Kaine voted for “Fast Track” trade negotiating authority needed for Congress to give final approval for the trade deal. But according to the Huffington Post, Kaine assured Clinton before being picked for the VP spot that he opposes the TPP in its current form.

Opposition to the TPP and concern with trade deals generally has been a key plank for Trump and was a major issue for Sen. Bernie Sanders, whose supporters Trump covets.
