Teen environmental activist Greta Thunberg has accepted an offer from Arnold Schwarzenegger to use his electric car to travel.
Thunberg, 16, who addressed the United Nations General Assembly in New York this week, told the Scandinavian talk show Skavlan that it was “one of the funniest offers I’ve received.”
“A lot of people have offered to lend us, for example, their electric car,” Thunberg said. “One of the funniest offers I’ve received is that Arnold Schwarzenegger has offered me to lend his electric car if I want to.”
Thunberg accepted Schwarzenegger’s offer, and she and her dad will drive the vehicle to Montréal for a Friday climate protest.
“This is all wrong. I shouldn’t be up here,” she said. “I should be back at school on the other side of the ocean. Yet, you all come to us young people for hope. How dare you. You have stolen my dreams and my childhood with your empty words, and yet, I’m one of the lucky ones.”
“People are suffering, people are dying, entire ecosystems are collapsing. We are in the beginning of a mass extinction, and all you can talk about is money and fairy tales of eternal economic growth,” Thunberg continued. “How dare you.”
