Larry Kudlow says Trump administration to ‘lengthen’ eviction moratorium amid pandemic

White House economic adviser Larry Kudlow said eviction moratoriums will be extended due to the continued economic circumstances brought on by the coronavirus pandemic.

The federal moratorium on evictions expired on Friday, which covered 12 million rental units across the country and prevented landlords from kicking tenants out of their properties if they miss a rent payment.

Kudlow did not say for how long they will lengthen the moratorium, which was implemented to assist those out of work during the pandemic, but vowed to do so.

“We will lengthen the eviction [moratorium],” he said on CNN’s State of the Union on Sunday. “We will lengthen it.”

He added additional efforts to try and relieve U.S. residents in other ways are being worked out in the next stimulus package being debated in Congress now.

“I think it will provide a great safety net until we get a strong recovery,” Kudlow said about the ongoing negotiations.
