Billionaires Barrack and Adelson to lead Trump’s inaugural committee

Los Angeles billionaire Tom Barrack, who was rumored to be under consideration for treasury secretary, has been named chairman of the inaugural committee for the 58th presidential inauguration in mid-January.

Barrack, a former Reagan administration official, belonged to President-elect Trump’s economic advisory team during his campaign. He will now lead the planning and coordination of events related to the upcoming inauguration of Trump and Vice President-elect Mike Pence, an appointment announced late Tuesday by the Trump campaign.

The Colony Capital chief executive will work alongside Republican National Committee Finance Chairman Lew Eisenberg and billionaire casino magnate Sheldon Adelson, both of whom will serve as finance chairs for the inaugural committee.

Trump and Pence’s inaugural ceremony will take place Jan. 20, 2017 outside the U.S. Capitol. The president-elect is rumored to be discussing a possible seven-stop victory tour in the battleground states that handed him the presidency shortly before his administration takes over.
