A 24-year-old man could be on his way back to Fairfax to face charges in the death of a toddler at his wife’s home day care.
U.S. marshals arrested Mohammad Ahmad Friday at a motel near LaGuardia Airport. He’s charged with first-degree murder in the death of Myles Simon, a 1-year-old boy.
Ahmad’s wife was running a day care center. She left the home Tuesday, and when she returned, she found Myles on the floor, unconscious, Fairfax County Police spokeswoman Mary Mulrenan said.
“The only one home at the time was our suspect,” Mulrenan said.
Ahmad had been wanted on a warrant, but Mulrenan refused to comment when asked how authorities tracked him to New York. Ahmad remains in custody in New York, and authorities here will seek his extradition, Mulrenan said.
