‘I’m a huge fan’: Satan gushes over Alan Dershowitz in SNL’s first cold open of 2020

Saturday Night Live kicked off its first episode of 2020 by sending Harvard professor and Trump impeachment defense lawyer Alan Dershowitz to visit Satan, apparently one of his biggest fans, in hell.

During Saturday’s cold open, Dershowitz, played by Jon Lovitz, visited hell, presumably for representing clients such as billionaire sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and former NFL player O.J. Simpson. Dershowitz made the trip after experiencing heart problems while practicing his defense of President Trump, who is on trial in the Senate after being impeached in the House last year.

“You’re not going to hell, you’re not even dying. I’m just, I’m going to send you back upstairs in a minute. Honestly, I just really wanted to meet you,” Satan told Dershowitz. “I never say this: I’m a huge fan.”

While Satan and Dershowitz discussed the constitutional lawyer’s defense for Trump, they were joined by a cast of characters also in hell, such as the writer of the song Baby Shark, Progressive commercial spokeswoman Flo, and Mr. Peanut.
