First lady Melania Trump congratulated the National Thanksgiving Turkey on Tuesday after he was pardoned by President Trump during the traditional ceremony in the White House Rose Garden.
“Congratulations to Drumstick on the pardon from @Potus!” the first lady wrote on Twitter. “We loved having you & Wishbone at the @WhiteHouse.”

Drumstick beat Wishbone for the pardon in a public Twitter poll, but in reality Wishbone will be spared from the dinner table too.
The pair, raised in Minnesota as part of the National Turkey Federation’s presidential flock, will retire to Virginia Tech’s “Gobblers Rest” exhibit, where they will join the birds pardoned by former President Barack Obama in 2016.
