Georgia law enforcement arrest man suspected of shooting two deputies after five-day manhunt

Georgia law enforcement have finally arrested a man they suspect of shooting at three sheriff’s deputies and wounding two five days after a manhunt for his arrest was announced.

Thomas County Sheriff’s Office confirmed to the Washington Examiner that Tyler Henderson, 25, was arrested on Sunday. Henderson’s manhunt had involved over 100 officers from South Georgia and North Florida law enforcement agencies.

“He will now be a resident of the Thomas County Jail and will be held accountable for trying to take the life of three of our Deputies,” the sheriff’s office wrote on social media.

Henderson was arrested after he went to the house of a relative who talked him into turning himself in. Police arrested him on the same street he committed his assault and were also able to recover the gun he used, according to the office.

Sheriff Carlton Powell wrote on social media that he “would like you each to know how appreciative we are for the out pour of support.” The office will soon be conducting a fundraiser for its deputies, with more information to be provided soon.

“There are to many names and agencies to list, but we are very thankful for you,” Powell wrote. “May God Bless You All!”

Henderson was wanted for shooting two Thomas County Sheriff’s Office deputies and attempting to attack a third around midnight on Jan. 11 in Ochlocknee, Georgia.

A $10,000 reward was offered for any information leading to his arrest. The sheriff’s office wrote on social media that Henderson “is a convicted felon and is no stranger to the law,” noting a previous wanted poster on his Facebook page.
