Kamala Harris brushes off House Democrat’s ‘motherf–ker’ remark about Trump

Sen. Kamala Harris, D-Calif., on Tuesday downplayed a freshman House Democrat’s use of an expletive to describe President Trump.

Harris, a potential 2020 presidential candidate, was asked on ABC’s “The View” “about Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., who last week called on her congressional colleagues to “impeach the motherfucker,” referring to the president.

“Honestly, my candid response is that she’s not the first nor will she be the last elected person to curse in public,” Harris said. “People are feeling very passionate right now in our country, and they’re expressing those views in a variety of ways. I also do believe that in the passion what we also do have to check, as a separate matter, is that there are also very … powerful voices in our country that are sowing hate and division among us. And we also need to check that.”

During Harris’ appearance on the daytime talk show, she slammed the Trump administration’s “propaganda” regarding immigration and the proposed southern border wall.

“This issue is about a vanity project for this president, and it is a problem of his own making,” Harris said of Trump. “When I traveled this country, folks have plenty enough problems that they need their president to focus on instead of a wall.”

Harris released a memoir Tuesday called The Truths We Hold: An American Journey, which many political pundits have speculated will pave the way for a 2020 White House campaign.

But the first-term senator and former California attorney general remained mum about her plans, saying she’ll make a decision with her family “soon.”

“Really, most importantly, it’s about my family. I mean we all know having public lives, and you know as the daughters of folks who have put themselves out there in that way,” Harris said Tuesday, referring in particular to co-panelists Abby Huntsman and Meghan McCain. “The whole family pays the price, and goes through the process.”
