After a stretch of rough polling, Hillary Clinton once again saw her lead shrink in a key battleground state as her lead was nearly cut in half, according to a new poll.

According to a new Monmouth poll released Tuesday, Clinton holds a 5-point lead over Trump in Florida, a key battleground state where Trump has made strides in recent weeks. The former secretary leads with 46 percent to Trump’s 41 percent. Libertarian Gary Johnson pulls six percent, while Green Party nominee Jill Stein takes one percent.

Clinton’s lead is down from a 9-point advantage she held in mid-August before her polling took a nose dive. At the time, she led with 48 percent backing to Trump’s 39 percent. However, Trump leads overall by less than a percentage point, according to the latest RealClearPolitics average.

The poll was taken between Sept. 16-19 and in the wake of Trump finally announcing that he believes that President Obama was born in the United States. However, those who were polled believe Trump doesn’t actually believe that as 54 percent believe he only made the declaration for political reasons. Only 24 percent believe Trump was being sincere in his belief.

Meanwhile, Sen. Marco Rubio continues to lead Rep. Patrick Murphy in his race for re-election. According to the poll, the incumbent Republican leads with 47 percent to Murphy’s 45 percent. In a month’s time, Rubio’s lead has shrunk over the two-term congressman, having led in the August poll by 5 points.

According to the RCP average of state polls, Rubio continues to lead in the race, holding a 6.4-point margin over Murphy.
