Students at Harvard University are hosting a series of workshops for their annual “sex week,” which includes a screening of a pornographic film and an introduction to stripteasing.
The workshops are being hosted by the student group Sexual Health Education and Advocacy throughout Harvard College or SHEATH, which was founded in 2012. The group has annually hosted “sex week” during the fall semester and a “sex weekend” during the spring semester.

The organization says its goal is to “[empower] members of the Harvard community to explore their experiences with love and sex by providing comprehensive sexual education programming on Harvard’s campus.”
“During SHEATH’s annual Sex Week (in the fall) and Sex Weekend (in the spring), we invite local sex educators to campus to lead interdisciplinary, scholastic, and highly engaging workshops,” the group says. “At the end of each event, SHEATH distributes safe sex supplies and sex toys to attendees, courtesy of our generous sponsors.”
Sponsors include two Harvard-affiliated organizations: the Open Gate Foundation and the Harvard Women’s Center.
The 2022 edition of sex week began on Nov. 14 and will continue until Nov. 20. The week began with a seminar on gay and transgender representation in the media, and a lecture by a hypnotherapist on “transcending sexual trauma with hypnosis.”
After a sex ed trivia game on Monday, the week’s events continued with a workshop on shibari, a form of bondage, followed by a screening of a pornographic film. The group will also distribute “safe-sex suppl[ies]” during the annual Harvard vs. Yale football game.
