Purcellville has won $20,000 worth of trees as part of a national sustainability award.
The Loudoun County municipality, along with Chicago and Santa Monica Calif., were this year’s Siemens Sustainable Community Award winners, according to a news release.
Purcellville was recognized in the small community category because of its proactive use of land and natural resources and because its “Go Green” goals are part of its comprehensive sustainability plan.
“We are honored to win this prestigious national award,” Purcellville Mayor Bob Lazaro said. “These award-winning efforts reflect the values of out citizens.”
The awards were created by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Business Civic Leadership Center and the Siemens Corporation, and the trees are provided by the Alliance for Community Trees.
