The arraignment scheduled Wednesday for the Prince George’s County councilwoman has been canceled, according to a spokeswoman with the U.S. Attorneys office. The charges filed against Johnson, 59, a Mitchellville Democrat, had signaled a guilty plea to the federal evidence-tampering charges was likely at the hearing. A guilty plea would have forced her off the council. The FBI arrested Johnson and her husband, then-County Executive Jack Johnson, in November — after she was elected but before she was sworn in — when agents said they caught her trying to stuff in her bra and underwear $79,600 worth of bribes obtained by her husband.
