Poll: Clinton trouncing Trump by 48 points among millennials

Hillary Clinton leads Donald Trump by 48 points among millennial voters, according to a new USA Today/Rock the Vote poll of young voters conducted by Ipsos.

The poll said Clinton is up 68 percent to Trump’s 20 percent, while Libertarian nominee Gary Johnson has 8 percent of the vote, and the Green Party’s Jill Stein has 1 point.

But the poll also came with a warning that Clinton’s advantage in this category of voters might have to be discounted, since younger voters are more at risk of not showing up on Election Day.

“Hillary Clinton has consolidated record-breaking support among millennials, but these findings raise a red flag for Democrats on the crucial question of whether they’ll show up to vote,” said Susan Page, USA Today Washington bureau chief, upon release of the poll. “The enthusiasm that Bernie Sanders’ presidential bid sparked continues to decline, and a growing percentage of younger voters say ‘my vote doesn’t matter.'”

The USA Today/Rock the Vote poll surveyed 1,020 adults age 18-34 nationwide from Oct. 11-13. The poll was conducted online in English and had a 3.5 percentage point credibility interval.
