Severn teenager sentenced to life without parole

In an emotionally charged sentencing hearing Tuesday, an Anne Arundel Circuit Court judge sentenced 19-year-old Terry Cooks Jr. to life without parole for the 2004 murder of trauma nurse David Brown.

Cooks was found guilty in January, after admitting to shooting Brown, 52, in Provinces Park on April 7, 2004. Cooks, who was 17 at the time of the killing, told police in August 2004 that he shot Brown with the intention of killing him, but that he had absolutely no motive for the random killing.
