Trump responds to immigration topic during Democratic debate

President Trump appeared to be watching this week’s second Democratic presidential debate, tagging debate host CNN in a tweet critiquing former President Barack Obama’s immigration policy.

“The cages for kids were built by the Obama Administration in 2014. He had the policy of child separation. I ended it even as I realized that more families would then come to the Border! @CNN” Trump tweeted about two hours into the sparring.

The topic was a prominent one at Wednesday’s debate. Obama-era Housing and Urban Development Secretary Julián Castro jabbed Joe Biden over the issue and hecklers broke into Biden’s speaking time, shouting “3 million deportations,” citing the total number of immigrants deported under the totality of Obama’s presidency.
