Colorado mother charged with attempting to kidnap her child with help of QAnon group

A Colorado mother was arrested after she allegedly attempted to kidnap her own child with the help of QAnon conspiracy theorists.

Police arrested 50-year-old Cynthia Abcug on Dec. 30 on charges of attempting to commit second-degree kidnapping. One of Abcug’s daughters claimed in an affidavit filed by authorities that her mother was devising a “raid” to kidnap her other daughter.

Abcug had obtained a gun, and a man who was “part of this group QAnon” was helping her, according to the daughter. “She could not understand why her mother did not see how this was a bad thing,” the affidavit stated.

The mother claimed that the people who held her daughter were “pedophiles” and “Satan worshipers.” The daughter said she thought her mother did not know where her sister was.

Abcug’s daughter had been lawfully removed from the home. Abcug had missed a custody hearing, and it was suspected that she medically abused her child.

QAnon is a far-right conspiracy that alleges a “deep state” scheme against President Trump involving the federal bureaucracy and Hollywood.
