MIAMI (AP) — Two former associates at convicted Ponzi schemer Scott Rothstein’s law firm have been charged for their roles in the $1.2 billion fraud.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office reported Friday that 52-year-old David Boden and 57-year-old Richard Pearson have been charged with conspiring to commit wire fraud in connection with the operation of the former Fort Lauderdale law firm of Rothstein, Rosenfeldt and Adler, P.A.
If convicted, each man faces up to five years in prison.
Rothstein is serving a 50-year prison sentence after pleading guilty to orchestrating the scam, which involved investments in fake legal settlements. More than 20 people have been convicted in the case.
