Five of the six Bowling Brook counselors indicted last week in the death of 17-year-old Isaiah Simmons turned themselves at the Carroll County Sheriff?s Office this morning.

Mark Richard Sainato, 36; Shadi Sabbagh, 33; Jason Willie Robinson, 25; Brian Gerard Kanavy, 31; and Michael Paul Corradi, 31, surrendered to sheriff?s detectives and were processed at Carroll County Central Booking, said Sheriff?s Office spokesman Lt. Phil Kasten.

The five were released on their own recognizance following a bail review hearing in district court.

The sixth counselor, Dennis Harding, 31, has made arrangements with the sheriff?s office to surrender later this week, Kasten said.

The counselors ? five from Maryland and one from Pennsylvania ? were each indicted on a single count of reckless endangerment, a misdemeanor with a maximum penalty of five years incarceration and a $5000 fine.

School staff failed to call 911 until 41 minutes after Simmons passed out and continued restraining him “on and off,” Carroll County State?s Attorney Jerry Barnes told The Examiner last week.
