Montgomery County has retrained its AAA bond rating from all three rating agencies, County Executive Ike Leggett announced Thursday.
The county is one of 38 in the country to receive a AAA rating from Standard & Poor’s, Fitch and Moody’s.
In a statement Thursday, Leggett attributed the strong rating to the county’s decision to eliminate 1,200 jobs and other cost-cutting measures that helped the county close $2.6 billion in budget gaps in the last six years.
“We must maintain the sense of urgency that has compelled us to continue sober and serious fiscal planning,” he said.
