Prince Harry and Meghan allege ‘institutional gaslighting’ in new Netflix trailer

Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, claimed to witness “institutional gaslighting” in the latest trailer for the second half of their Netflix documentary series.

The trailer, which was released by the streaming platform on Monday, showed some incendiary remarks from the British prince, including allegations of gaslighting and that someone engaged in falsehoods to “protect” Prince William yet failed to protect Meghan and Harry. However, it is unclear who Harry was talking about in the clip.

“They were happy to lie to protect my brother,” Harry said before an image of the Sussexes appeared on the screen. “They were never willing to tell the truth to protect us.”

The 84-second clip revealed a sneak peek at the final three episodes of the six-part series, which are scheduled for release on Thursday.

In the new trailer, Meghan claimed she was “fed” to the wolves instead of “thrown,” in her latest remarks about life with the royal family, and Harry pondered what would happen to the couple had they remained in England. Images and clips from the royal wedding, along with clips from the couple’s California home, were also included in the trailer.

“It gave us a chance to create that home that we had always wanted,” Meghan said of their new life. Harry added that he always felt that “this was a fight worth fighting for.”

The first three episodes were released last week and included accusations of “unconscious bias” in the royal family. The accusation was met with calls from lawmakers to strip the couple of their royal titles.

The first three episodes also lobbed attacks more directly at the media rather than the royal family, with Harry reflecting on his upbringing in the spotlight and the sudden death of his mother Diana, the late Princess of Wales, who died while being chased by paparazzi in Paris. It also included accusations that the media was intent on destroying Meghan.

Buckingham Palace has declined to comment on the content of the Netflix documentary.
