Democrats say White House canceled immigration meeting with lawmakers

Published

While a spokesman for Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Ill., said Friday that White House officials canceled an upcoming meeting to brief Republican and Democratic lawmakers on the details of the administration’s immigration proposal, Republicans and administration officials said a tentative meeting had simply been rescheduled due to timing conflicts.

“Well, they scheduled the meeting to brief the Four Whips group on their immigration plan,” Durbin spokesman Ben Marter told the Washington Examiner. “The [White House] said that ‘given the rollout yesterday’ they are holding off for now, but I note that we haven’t received a single page of their plan except through news reports.”
