Heery International, with regional offices in Baltimore, is “the biggest firm you?ve never heard of,” says East Region Manager John Furman.
“We?re a very diverse company,” said Furman, who was appointed Heery?s East Region manager in late January. “It?s up to us to make sure things happen.”
Heery?s East Region covers the Mid-Atlantic, New York and New England regions. The company?s clients include Baltimore Gas and Electric Co., Baltimore?s Department of Public Works, Johns Hopkins University and the National Aquarium of Baltimore.
The company is involved in more than $750 million in construction per year in the East Region, totaling record revenues and profits in 2007, Furman said.
“Some people don?t know what they don?t know,” Furman said. “There are so many different elements of the construction process that we can help them through.”
Heery helps clients from the beginning of a project, planning and designing the project, hiring contractors and keeping the process on time and within budget.
The company managed the $100 million renovation and addition to the Sheppard Pratt hospital in Towson, said Tom Hess, special assistant to the president of Sheppard Pratt Health System.
“Without them, we probably would have paid a lot in construction, design and engineering fees, and it would have been a lot less effective,” Hess said.
Heery has also work with the University of Maryland Medical Systemon a variety of projects, including project management services for an emergency department/ambulatory addition at Memorial Hospital in Easton.
“Bringing that continuity and keeping things flowing is so important, because you really can?t afford to waste time and lose money,” said Rick Dunning, vice president of facilities planning for UMMS.
