Video shows rioters surrounding a Portland police officer, with one man punching him after the verdict in the Derek Chauvin trial was revealed.
“An Officer is surrounded and punched in the face and ends up on the ground on his back with the suspect on top. This was a very dangerous situation. Subject was arrested,” the Portland Police Department posted on Twitter early Wednesday morning in response to video of the scene.

People gathered in the city following the Chauvin verdict in the death of George Floyd to “celebrate George’s life” and go “all out for Daunte Wright.”
The video shows a police officer on a bike exchanging heated words with a man dressed in all black before another man hit the officer.
“Don’t f—ing touch me, dude,” the man in black says.
“You stepped in front of my bike,” the officer responds.
A loudspeaker is heard telling protesters that an unlawful assembly has been declared and to leave the area immediately.

Another man then approaches the officer and punches him as other officers arrive and pull the suspect off of the officer.
Two people were arrested Tuesday night, including the 36-year-old reportedly behind the attack, Randy Gray. He was charged with assaulting a public safety officer, assault, harassment, disorderly conduct, and criminal mischief.
