President Trump brushed off the warnings of a top Marine general that a “big ass fight” is brewing Wednesday.
During a visit to Norway last month, Marine Gen. Robert Neller, the Marine commandant, predicted “there’s a war coming” when speaking to Marines and said a “big-ass fight” was on the horizon.
When asked about that warning by a Norwegian reporter, Trump said he doesn’t think the general is right.
“Maybe he knows something I don’t know,” Trump said.
He added, “No, I don’t expect that. I think we’ll have, because of strength, peace through strength. I think we’ll have a long period of peace. I hope we do.”

Neller visited a Marine base in Norway during his Christmas tour and made his comments as an exhortation to the Marines to be ready at all times to fight, Military.com reported.
He said the Pacific and Russia would be the next focuses for the nation’s military
However, Trump doesn’t think Neller’s opinion is reflective of world events.
“I think we will have peace through strength. Our military will be stronger than it ever was in a very short period. And that’s my opinion,” he said. “That’s not the general’s opinion. But I think my opinion counts more right now.”
