A judge formally imposed a prison sentence of five life terms, plus 168 years, for Jorge Torrez, a former Marine convicted of robbery, rape and sodomy charges by an Arlington County jury in October.
The jury had recommended that sentence for the 22-year-old Torrez, who is also linked through DNA evidence to the 2005 slayings of two young girls in Zion, Ill., where he used to live. He has not been charged in the Illinois case.
Torrez was convicted of raping and abducting one woman, after restraining the woman and her friend in a house, on Feb. 27. He was also convicted of trying to lead a woman into his car and robbing her of her purse on Feb. 10.
Torrez will remain in custody at the Arlington County Detention Center until the Department of Corrections places him in the facility where he will serve his sentence.
