An explosion at a Dippin’ Dots facility in Kentucky left 10 people injured this week, officials said.
The explosion occurred at a manufacturing facility in Paducah and was not where the ice cream is made, the company told media outlets. A truck was reportedly unloading liquid nitrogen when the accident occurred Wednesday evening, according to Paducah police spokeswoman Robin Newberry.
The 10 injured people were taken to nearby medical facilities. They exited the building on their own. The extent of their injuries was not available as of Wednesday night.
“At this moment, our focus is on the well-being of our fellow employees who were injured,” the ice cream company wrote in a statement obtained by local NBC affiliate WPSD.

Aerial footage of the explosion appears to show a large area of the building with walls and roof damage among other scattered debris.
Dippin’ Dots CEO Scott Fischer asked for prayer for the victims in a statement sent to multiple outlets, saying, “My heart is with our employees, especially those injured in this afternoon’s terrible incident.”
In November 2019, an explosion occurred at the same facility, injuring four. The explosions happened in different buildings. Officials said there was a liquid nitrogen leak before the explosion two years ago, but it is unclear if it was the root of the cause.
