Caitlyn Jenner is ‘really concerned’ with Trump’s pick for Army secretary

Transgender U.S. Olympian Caitlyn Jenner, a Republican voter, is unhappy with President Trump’s nomination for Army secretary because the Tennessee lawmaker does not support progressive reforms for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people.

“I’m really concerned with, kind of the next move for the Trump administration, is Mark Green, who’s a Republican from Tennessee, uh – senator and he’s up for secretary of the Army. He’s made some of the most anti-LGBT statements ever – calling me, a trans person, as a disease. I have to tell Mark Green, I don’t have a disease, OK?” Jenner told Fox News host Tucker Carlson on Monday evening.

“He [Green] called about fighting the bathroom issue as, you know, the Bible tells me I have to go after evil,’ you know. I’m not an evil person,” Jenner added.

Aside from Trump’s pick for a Defense position, Jenner said the LGBT community’s greatest issue is a separate one.

“We have a murder rate that’s out of control right now. Already this year, we’ve had nine trans women who have been murdered, just from – since the first of the year. We have a suicide rate, which is nine times higher than the general public in the trans community,” said Jenner, who appeared on the show to talk up her new book.

Jenner admitted she feels “disappointed” with Trump “sometimes,” but is trying to press the Justice Department to prosecute the murders of trans people as hate crimes.

Trump selected Green for Army secretary after his initial pick backed out two months ago.

The 52-year-old physician created AlignMD, an emergency room management firm. He joined the state Senate in early 2013 and also serves as chaplain of the Tennessee Senate GOP Caucus.
