Check the signs on your street: The District’s Department of Public Works will begin enforcing residential street sweeping parking violations today.
Residential street sweeping to clean roadways began for the year on March 1 and will go through Oct. 31. During the sweeping season, some areas have restricted parking during certain times that are noted by the street signs.
The Department of Public Works noted that some blocks have new sweeping times this year, and that a block may be swept more than once in a day if a supervisor deems it necessary.
The most prevalent kind of sweeper is equipped with “Sweepercams” that take photographs of cars parked during sweeping hours. Vehicle owners with a street-sweeping parking violation receive a $30 ticket, the department stated.
So don’t forget to relocate your car.
