Christian comedian John Crist breaks monthslong silence following sexual misconduct allegations

Christian comedian John Crist has returned to social media eight months after reports of his alleged sexual misconduct emerged.

Crist thanked his friends and fans for their support Wednesday on Instagram, calling the outpouring “undeserved.” He said that he spent four months at a treatment facility and that while he was there, many people sent him letters.

In November, Charisma News published a story including allegations against Crist from five different women. They accused him of sexting multiple women at the same time, pursuing sexual relationships with married women or women in committed relationships, and offering show tickets in exchange for sexual favors.

In his apology at the time, Crist said, “Over the past number of years, various women have accused me of behavior that has been hurtful to them. While I am not guilty of everything I’ve been accused of, I confess to being guilty of this — I have treated relationships with women far too casually, in some cases even recklessly.”

“I think, at the beginning of this process, I wanted to hop on the internet and justify and rationalize and minimize and kind of explain and defend myself,” he added on Wednesday. “Coming all the way through the healing and recovery process, I can look at you eight months later and say that those choices were on me. Those decisions were mine and no one else’s.”

Crist made no attempt to deny the allegations against him in Wednesday’s video. He did not divulge whether he would be making a return to comedy immediately but did say, “I can’t wait for the future. I’ll see you soon.”
